Abstract
A study of thin sections of South Pacific red clays has shown the direct influence of bioturbation on the Ni enrichment of these low-sedimentation rate sediments. Burrows and benthic pellets are mineralized into Ni-rich Mn oxides during early diagenesis. However, recrystallization processes erase the organic contribution almost completely.
